William Owen's Hauraki Gulf

Author(s): William (William Edward) Owen

Travel Guides (NZ)

William Owen's Hauraki Gulf is an essential resource for all those who fish, cruise or holiday in the spectacular waters of the Gulf. There is information about anchorages and harbours for all the important islands throughout the Gulf and detail about seamanship, boat safety and fishing as well as plenty of personal anecdotes and seafarer's lore to add flavour and colour. It also covers marinas and moorings of Auckland's inner harbour, and the Firth of Thames. William Owen drew on a lifetime of experience and association with the Gulf to write this highly successful, book, which was first published in 1983. Ably assisted by his daughter Penny, it has been revised (1990, 1999) and reprinted twice (1986, 1994). William died in 2005, but Penny Owen's update of his classic book will ensure it continues to be widely read and utilised by people who love the Hauraki Gulf and by those just getting to know it. The information it contains is timeless and it remains as relevant today as it has always been.
